Diagnosis (Dx):

- maxillary hypoplasia
Treatment (Tx):
- Maxillary Orthognathic surgery
Summary:
Here is a patient that an under-bite, she complained about issues chewing certain types of food and was displeased with her bite. In addition, she was unhappy with her profile, including her nose and jaw line. After surgery she was pleased with her esthetic and functional results.
Based on the patient’s problem list (complaints) it may be advisable to operate both the upper and lower jaw as well as including a rhinoplasty. In this case, however, we were able to achieve the cosmetic and functional outcome that the patient desired with an isolated upper jaw surgery.
Pre-operative digital planning helps us assess the results prior to performing the surgery. In this way we know, pre-operatively, that we can achieve certain goals with potentially less surgery.
